Este artículo tiene como objetivo reflexionar sobre las normas del derecho internacional de los derechos humanos y del derecho internacional humanitario, así como sobre el papel del ser humano en el proceso de toma de decisiones en relación con las armas autónomas letales. En primer lugar, presenta el concepto de sistemas de armas autónomas y su debate internacional. A continuación, analiza si el derecho internacional de los derechos humanos y el derecho internacional humanitario exigen cierto grado de participación humana en el contexto del uso de dichos sistemas. Posteriormente, reflexiona sobre dos de los principales conceptos debatidos en el ámbito internacional respecto a la relación entre el ser humano y las armas autónomas: el control humano efectivo y los niveles adecuados de juicio humano. Finalmente, concluye con la obligación de la participación humana y la necesidad de que los Estados encuentren la manera de alcanzar un acuerdo sobre una interacción suficiente entre el ser humano y la máquina para cumplir con las normas del derecho internacional de los derechos humanos y del derecho internacional humanitario.
