Abstract

Geography and art show potentialities in their approaches, from the three horizons discussed here: Art and science as unfinished narratives of the world, and non-hierarchical; Dialogues between geography and art: between the intelligible and the sensitive; and forthcoming geographic-artistic horizons. The paper aims to demonstrate that the art currently produced in different spatial contexts can complement geographic knowledge and reveal spatial knowledge, especially in urban environments. The sensitivity, knowledge, and ways of life of artists in cities, with their creations, perspectives, and original interventions, can be a rich contribution to better understand and intervene in public spaces. Artistic manifestations in cities act as geographic tools that allow understanding the movements of construction of the public character of spaces. Finally, we extend an invitation to increasingly assume an attitude of geographers of art, in the various spatial contexts of artistic production.
