Ethics and Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Saberes Journal maintains a solid commitment to academic integrity. To this end, the editors seek to establish ethical relationships with authors, reviewers, and everyone involved in the publication process. The journal is open to criticism and suggestions to improve its editorial processes. The commitments and recommended practices for the journal's main agents are described below:

Authors: Authors are responsible for the content of their work and must ensure compliance with ethical standards of scientific research (avoiding plagiarism, providing due credit, etc.), as well as respecting the ethical principles of the field of study in question. All researchers who have contributed significantly to a manuscript must be recognized as authors, following an order that reflects each individual's contribution. If there is any possibility of a conflict of interest related to the work, the author must declare in a final note that there is no omission of ties with funding agencies or commercial or political institutions. Likewise, the institution to which the author is affiliated or that collaborated in the study must be mentioned, ensuring there are no conflicts of interest that could affect the presented results. If the research involved experimentation with human subjects, the author must state that appropriate ethical procedures for this type of study were followed. Should the author identify any error or inaccuracy in a work published in Saberes Journal, they must notify the editors so that necessary corrections can be made and highlighted in the published article.

Reviewers: Reviewers must alert editors to any ethical deviation (such as plagiarism or duplicate submission) they detect in an evaluated work. Evaluations must be based exclusively on criteria related to the scientific quality of the manuscript (originality, relevance, contribution to the field of study), and the reasons for approval or rejection must be expressed clearly, respectfully, and well-founded. If there is any impediment to the objective evaluation of a manuscript, the reviewer must communicate this to the editors, who will cancel the review request without prejudice to the reviewer. If the reviewer cannot meet deadlines or conduct the evaluation, they must inform the editors so that measures can be taken to ensure the continuity of the evaluation process.

Editors: Submissions are checked by anti-plagiarism software before being submitted to peer review. Works presenting plagiarism or self-plagiarism will not be accepted by the journal. If there are suspicions of scientific misconduct in works submitted to Saberes, such as those described in FAPESP’s Code of Good Scientific Practices (data fabrication and falsification, plagiarism, etc.), an investigation will be conducted, and the submission may be cancelled. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and knowledge in the area of the submitted work, seeking to avoid conflicts of interest or discrimination that could compromise the evaluation, which must be guided exclusively by scientific merit. The journal ensures the anonymity and confidentiality of authors and reviewers during the evaluation process to maintain the integrity of the procedure. After acceptance of the manuscript for evaluation, the journal seeks to guarantee an efficient and impartial editorial flow and is willing to provide clarifications to authors regarding the status of their submissions. If a published work receives a report of ethical deviation or inaccuracy, the journal’s Editorial Committee will investigate the issue, consulting the author. If the report is confirmed, the journal will adopt measures that may include the correction or retraction of the work.

Norms for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Articles

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools must be explicitly stated with transparency. Authors must inform in the "Comments to the Editor" field how AI was employed in the construction of the manuscript. Furthermore, it is mandatory to include in the Methodology section the identification of the AI tool used, the transcription of the prompt(s) (input commands), and a detailed description of the manner of use, specifying whether the tool was used for data analysis, grammatical correction, text structuring, or other purposes.
