The Almeida Castro Cine-Theater as a Space of Sociability in Mossoró at the Beginning of the 20th Century (1908-1933).

This article is the result of the author's participation in the 2024 edition of ANPUH-RN, entitled “ANPUH-RN, 20 Years of History: Challenges to the historian's profession in contemporary times”. The aim of this article is to discuss the different sociabilities and the dispute over narratives surrounding the Cine-Theatro Almeida Castro, the first street cinema in Mossoró and possibly the first in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. To this end, newspapers and later memorialist literature were analyzed in order to identify the motivations of different social groups in relation to this space, as well as to examine the dispute over the memory of the cinema and its surroundings.
