The name of the neighbourhood, Pito Aceso, is part of the territories and places that are demarcated by the residents of the city of Itapagipe-MG. According to the professor Raquel Rolnik, the idea of territory as lived space, and not just a delimited geographic space, but a appropriated and constituted space by social and cultural relations. Those surroundings had some official names, with the purpose to untie from memory of the residents the name which they chose for the place, Pito Aceso, where they built their shacks and simple houses of wattle and daub, by mid 1970s. In a space between the city and the field, formed the peripheral neighbourhood of Pito Aceso, overwhelmingly composed of a black and poor population.
