Analyzes the African men and women classified as Gentiles from Guinea and the quality of their children, in Seridó, sertões of the Captaincy of Rio Grande do Norte, from the end of the 18th century to the first years of the 19th century, through the analysis of marriage and baptism books of the aforementioned parish. Part of a historiographical discussion based on academic studies by Anicleide Sousa, Cláudia Lago, Sheila Faria and Solange Alves. It adopts the premises of Quantitative History, according to François Furet and José D’Assunção Barros, as well as the Onomastic Method, as discussed by Ginzburg and Poni. Considering at least one betrothed with the Gentile of Guinea status, it found that, of 1,691 marriages held in Seridó (1788 and 1834), approximately less than 1% involved Gentile betrotheds from Guinea.
