Abstract

This experience report on the "Women in Science with Open Doors", initiative, carried out by the Federal Rural University of Semiárido (UFERSA) in partnership with a primary school, aimed to encourage girls' participation in science and technology. This extension program, developed both on the university campus and in the school environment, involved experimental activities and listening sessions, broadening students' perspectives on future academic and professionais paths. Experiencing an academic space had a significant symbolic impact on students' perceptions and strengthened their sense of belonging in historically masculinized fields. The testimonies of those involved, along with their interest in continuing the partnership, highlight the potential of university extension as a tool for social transformation.
