The family approach tools allow understanding the family dynamics, their affective relationships and with the community. Collected information and identified problems favor the elaboration of intervention strategies that can impact the individual's quality of life. Therefore, the objective was to report the case of an approach to the family of a caregiver, registered in an eSF in Pirapora, Minas Gerais. This is a descriptive case study, with a qualitative approach, carried out between December 2022 and April 2023 by professionals from an eSF. The work described the family approach tools: Genogram, Ecomap, Life Cycle, FIRO and P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E. and its applicability. The use of tools made it possible to strengthen the relationship between the health team and the patient, providing an understanding of the different dimensions of the family unit. In addition, it generated subsidies for the construction of an intervention project closer to the family and, consequently, the improvement of the quality of life of its members.
