THE IMPORTANCE OF INSERTING UNIVERSITY EXTENSION ACTIVITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Extension activities associated with teaching and research activities play an extremely important role in the construction and articulation of ideas and involvement of society/community to which the educational institution is inserted. It is defined by some authors as a two-way street, as it enables the exchange of academic and popular knowledge. This study deals with concepts and historical moments that marked the creation and applicability of university extension activities. Through a systematic analysis of the literature and following the main objective of this research, this study presents the importance of extension activities for student, teachers and the community, and how it contributes to the professional development of those involved.
