CONTINUING EDUCATION IN QUILOMBOLA SCHOOLING

A UNIVERSITY EXTENSION EXPERIENCE AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANTI-RACIST AND DECOLONIAL PRACTICES

Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of continuing teacher education on the advancement of Quilombola School Education, emphasizing the appreciation of traditional knowledge, Afro-Brazilian civilizing values, and the consolidation of anti-racist and decolonial pedagogical practices. The study, grounded in a training experience promoted by UFRN, highlights the production of contextualized teaching materials, the development of action plans, and the broad participation of Quilombola educators. The findings indicate significant engagement and territorial diversity, although structural challenges such as limited digital access remain. It is concluded that teacher training constitutes a strategic tool for confronting structural racism and for building a critical, democratic, and socially grounded education.
