This research aims to analyze the discursive functioning based on what is circulated in two television programs regarding the Corinthians stereotype, in order to examine discursive affiliations. The research uses excerpts from two televised reports discussing sporting events related to Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, one focused on sports issues and the other on expository journalism, meaning it involves the presentation of a situation involving club supporters based on a real-life experience. To achieve this, we rely on the theoretical framework of French Discourse Analysis, as established by Michel Pêcheux. According to Discourse Analysis, journalistic discourse, like any other, is not merely an impartial transmitter of information; in other words, journalistic discourses are also influenced by ideology and already carry established ideological meanings, as they are (re)produced by individuals. Therefore, through the selected and organized discursive sequences presented in this article, we analyze the discursive functioning to highlight the discursive regularity that governs and solidifies a social memory that violates the basic rights of Corinthians supporters, thus revealing a prejudiced discursive formation.
