Abstract

The school year of 2022 in Brazil is premised on being a year of back to face-to-face classes, due to the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus. Although the pandemic is not yet over, most Brazilian schools have already returned to face-to-face education in the 2022 school year. In the State Education Network of Maranhão, especially those that offer high school, schools are in full swing in 2022 and with a novelty: the New High School (NEM). The Secretary of State for Education of the State (SEDUC-MA) brought some basic guidelines regarding what is expected, in terms of content, for the current school year, as well as some other guidelines with regard to the NEM, among them, the so-called “successful methodologies”. In the meantime, the present work aims to carry out an experience report based on one of the successful methodologies, known as “base elective”, applied in two 1st year high school classes. The culmination of the electives pointed to the adhesion of most of the classes in which it was applied, revealing a natural talent of generation Z with regard to language on social networks.
