The worker's perspective on working conditions in tourism in the city of Rio de Janeiro during the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic caused changes in the job market and in the population's experiences internationally. This research seeks to analyze the impacts of the pandemic on workers in the tourism sector in the city of Rio de Janeiro, investigating their working conditions and satisfaction based on their perception of their work. Online and in-person forms were applied, and the data obtained was related to the results of another survey carried out in 2019 aiming to compare the results by relating working conditions previously and during the pandemic. In summary, the research revealed that the consequences of the pandemic scenario affected workers, with the increase in unemployment and the deepening of precarious working conditions that already existed for many who remained in the sector.
