Introduction: Healthcare professionals can play a leading role in developing strategies for implementing self-care actions in the workplace, encouraging caregivers to take care of themselves. Objective: To present a proposal for an intervention to develop “Caring for the Caregiver” groups, with a view to promoting the health of healthcare professionals. Methods: This is a descriptive research study in the form of an experience report. The study was conducted through the implementation of a health promotion intervention for two “Caring for the Caregiver” groups at two Family Health Units in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Pernambuco, between July and December 2022. The actions were developed by professionals who are members of the Multiprofessional Family Health Residency Program. Results: The report explores the description of the planning, implementation of the groups, and development of health promotion actions, as well as suggesting a systematic proposal for developing similar actions in health services. Conclusions: In view of the intervention carried out and proposed, recognizing and strengthening care for those who care is an ethical, political, and institutional commitment, reaffirming that health workers also need and deserve care.
