The project aims to raise awareness and empower children from socio-environmentally vulnerable communities in the estuarine region of Santos-São Vicente, a coastal area in the central coast of São Paulo state, as young socio-environmental leaders through educational experiences focused on valuing mangroves. These ecosystems, essential for climate balance and coastal protection, face constant pressures from urbanization and industrial activities. Through playful, artistic, and reflective practices — such as digital photography, visual narratives, and cultural expressions — the project fosters the coproduction of knowledge and strengthens bonds between childhood, nature, and territory. By recognizing children as “Young Propagules,” the project shows ecological engagement early on and highlights the transformative potential of critical environmental education in building a more sensitive and active collective awareness.
