This study investigated elderly health with a focus on diabetes mellitus and the challenges faced by Community Health Agents (CHAs) in managing the disease. Through questionnaires applied in the first semester of 2024, CHAs reported difficulties such as patients’ lack of understanding, absence of family support, and work overload. In response, a training course was developed within a university extension project to enhance CHAs' skills in glycemic monitoring and the prevention of complications in elderly patients. The study concludes that continuous training of CHAs, integrated with university extension initiatives, is essential to improving elderly care and strengthening the healthcare system.
