The Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) is understood as therapies based on traditional knowledge and interdisciplinary approaches for integrated health care. From this perspective, university extension plays an important role in training Community Health Workers (CHWs). In this sense, the present report aims to describe and analyze a CAM training initiative for CHWs, carried out and experienced by medical students. Through university extension programs, educational lectures and recreational activities were conducted to enable health professionals to practice CAM within the community they serve.
