This study aims to understand the effects caused by social determinants on the health of the population in the context of the studied territorial space. We sought to highlight relevant factors of reflection about these effects and their interference in quality of life, social interactions and, especially, in the health status of the population. Based on the qualitative approach it was possible to conduct in loco interviews followed by visits to the Basic Health Unit. A survey was carried out about the economic and political conditions and social interactions observed. The disparity between the economic realities and the social extremes in the same territory, which show health inequities, was identified. Thus, it was possible to draw a panorama of the health situation and its relation with the active social determinants, analyzing the influence they have as impacting factors on the health of the population.
Keywords: health; territory; public policies; strategic planning; social determinants.
