BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR LAY PEOPLE: AN EXPERIENCE REPORT

The present study aims to report the experience of students and professors of the nursing course at the Faculty of Nursing (FAEN) of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN) about an action carried out on Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid. with servers of the municipal government of Mossoró/RN. The target audience consisted of drivers, and the subjects were treated in a theoretical/practical way, as follows: concepts and guidelines of the BLS, biosafety, fainting, convulsions, electric shock, hemorrhages and burns. At the end of the action, the participants described the experience, evaluated the methodology used, and contributed with suggestions for the next training. It was possible to perceive the relevance of the subject for personal and professional life, since doubts were resolved, concepts rethought and curiosities clarified.
