The article discusses the organization of the Circles of Northeastern Readings, a community outreach project developed in partnership with cultural institutions. First, we discuss the social function of museums (MARZIALE, 2021; SANTOS 2012) and the community outreach programs; next, we introduce the Circles of Readings as practices of literary literacy (FREIRE, 2015; COSSON, 2006, 2014, 2020) and discuss the knowledge promoted by the Circles of Northeastern Readings. The Circles made it possible to experience the Northeastern literature through several genres and times, reaching an audience of various ages and contexts. Furthermore the experience showed us the effacement of the localization of renowned authors in Brazilian literature who need to be taken to the broader readership.
