ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF PREVENTING DENGUE

Abstract

The dengue fever is one of the public health problems of great impact. Alternative method used in preventing dengue fever are the aromatic medicinal plants, in that simply by being planted have the ability to repel insects, due to that release scent. The aim of the present study was to guide the aged living in the Vicentine Unit of Ceres-GO on dengue, to provide a medicinal plant with repellent properties to the Aedes aegypti mosquito and to plant crotalária seeds with them. The research described by the experienced researchers aspects with 26 aged who reside in Vincentian Unit. The total of 26 aged, all won, aromatic plant basil seedlings that repels the mosquito vector of dengue, the knowledge discussed during the lecture reached 88.46 % (23/26), 26.92 % (07/26) planted seeds of species Sunn hemp and 13.04 % (03/23) knew and understood about medicinal plants and aromatic medicinal plants used in the prevention of dengue fever. The orientation of pharmacist about dengue fever and alternative method to prevent dengue fever was of extreme importance to the elderly, because under the guidelines was able to take the questions and rescue the use of medicinal plants in the everyday life of these elders.
