The effects of Lactobacillus Reuteri DSM 1738 in infants with colic: an integrative review

Introducción: El cólico infantil (CI) es una enfermedad prevalente en las lactantes, lo que ocurre entre el 10% y el 30% de los bebés de todo el mundo y se caracteriza por llanto, rubor facial, elevación de las extremidades inferiores y flatulencia. Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 1738 es un probiótico ampliamente asociado con efectos positivos sobre algunas enfermedades gastrointestinales. Los estudios señalan la relación entre el CI y la composición del microbioma intestinal, ya que el TGI de los individuos menos frecuentemente colonizados por Lactobacillus está más enriquecido con coliformes formadores de gases. Desde esta perspectiva, la administración de L. reuteri tiene un efecto significativo en el tratamiento del cólico infantil, favoreciendo una reducción del tiempo diario de llanto y agitación. Objetivo: Investigar los efectos de la administración de Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 1738 en lactantes con cólicos. Metodología: Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica integradora que analiza artículos científicos en las bases PubMed, LILACS, SciELO y Scopus. Conclusiones: Ante ello, se puede concluir que la utilización de Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 1738 es favorable para reducir los cólicos infantiles en lactantes.
