Introduction: Nursing care in the perioperative period is essential to ensure patients’ safety and recovery. Nursing professionals play a crucial role in this process, promoting quality care. Objective: To identify the nursing care in the perioperative period. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review developed in six stages. The review was carried out in July 2024 using the Virtual Health Library, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Nursing Database and Publisher Medline databases, with the Health Sciences Descriptors “Nursing Professionals”, “Nursing Care” and “Perioperative Care” combined by the Boolean operator “AND”. Results: Twelve articles were included in the final sample, categorized in nursing care in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative periods. It was found that nursing care in the perioperative period involves preparing and guiding the patients for the surgical procedures, organizing and managing resources in the surgical center, monitoring vital signs, preventing infections, caring for injuries and devices, and managing pain, among others. Conclusions: The results of this study highlight the importance of a comprehensive and integrated approach to perioperative nursing care, which involves aspects from preparing and educating the patients to the efficient management of resources and communication within the health team.
