Abstract

ABSTRACT

This article presents a systematic literature review conducted in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), covering the period from 2015 to 2025. The objective was to identify and analyze Brazilian academic production on artist residencies, focusing on theoretical works that consider them as accessible and inclusive spaces for dissident artists. The methodology included the search and selection of theses and dissertations from graduate programs in Arts and Visual Arts, using the descriptors "artist residencies", "accessibility", and "dissident artists". The initial search identified 55 records, but the combined search with "accessibility" and "dissident artists" returned no results. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, the theses by Rupp (2017) and Oliveira (2020) were selected for in-depth analysis. The results show a scarcity of studies addressing all three themes together, revealing a significant gap in academic literature.

Keywords: Artist residencies; Accessibility; Dissident artists; Visual arts; Systematic review.
