Queer epistemology: counter-hegemonic knowledge and the promotion of citizenship for gay men
saberes contra-hegemônicos e a promoção de cidadania para homens gays
Abstract
This theoretical article reflects on the production of scientific knowledge from a counter-hegemonic perspective and based on queer epistemologies. Queer epistemologies emerge as resistance practices that destabilize the hegemonic model of masculinity, denouncing its exclusionary effects and claiming the centrality of deviant experiences in the construction of knowledge. Aligned with these propositions, Psychology assumes an ethical and political commitment to the emancipation of marginalized subjectivities and the construction of plural meanings about being a man.
