PUBLIC POLICIES AND THE PSYCHOSOCIAL EFFECTS OF RACISM: STRATEGIES FOR THE (RE)EXISTENCE OF YOUNG BLACK PEOPLE IN FORTALEZA/CE
ESTRATÉGIAS DE (RE)EXISTÊNCIAS DE JOVENS NEGROS(AS) EM FORTALEZA/CE
Abstract
The aim of this article is to reflect on the psychosocial effects of racism on the trajectories of young black people living in a peripheral area of Fortaleza, Ceará. The methodological approach, of a qualitative nature, was research-inter(in)vention. Narrative interviews were conducted on the life trajectories of young black people with a view to pointing out ways of producing public policies that guarantee contextualized rights and are geared towards the needs of this public. The results point to the stigmatization of these territories and these young people, as an effect of structural racism, in such a way as to increase territorial violence and the precariousness of public policies in this context. In terms of confrontation, community initiatives and the university stand out as devices capable of making other counter-colonial narratives about this reality visible.
